Carbon Cohort is an internship program by Studio Carbon designed to nurture emerging design talent. As part of their selection process, the studio hosts an open design challenge for design students, young professionals, and design enthusiasts. The 2024 challenge (for the batch of 2025) focussed on designing for future food traceability in the year 2050. The communication design sub-challenge is elaborated below.
One-line Brief: Create a brand identity for a global food trust and traceability system in 2050.
Context: In 2050, despite food abundance, concerns about food origins, safety, and production methods have increased. People seek transparency and assurance about their food choices.
Scope:
-
Develop a brand system that conveys trust and provides transparency in the global food supply chain.
-
Consider how the brand will be applied across various future mediums.
-
Consider how to communicate complex information about food sources, production methods, and sustainability to diverse audiences.

The idea was to have a circular dashboard instead of a rectangular one. The Circles depict Key Tracking points, and any stakeholder can access documents, communication, invoices, and other details from the circular dashboard. It holds data for all users in a circular form.
I am grateful, inspired, and super-charged by the certificate of appreciation for being among the top 30 submissions for the challenge. I look forward to exploring information design and working on future-facing projects.
